Life vs Work; Working and blogging again.

Susan Martin Cherry
Nov.  1,  1943 ~ Mar. 7, 2012
Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister
I will always love you.  You will remain in our hearts forever.

Susan, Lacy and Chopper
Susan and Chopper
Susan Martin Cherry and brother, Terry Martin.  Terry's shaping room at Hobie

Sadly, My Susan lost her courageous battle against lung cancer on March 7th of this year.  She was first diagnosed in February, 2011.  She fought to become one of the several-year survivors with a constant positive attitude and utmost dignity.   God had a different plan.  Susan was blessed with the knowledge to choose to live in the solution always, the capacity to care more for others than herself even in her darkest times and the ability to stay in the moment and enjoy each day on a daily basis as they were given to her.
I was blessed to Marry her in 1999 and spend 13 beautiful years with her.  I had hoped to have many more.
I will be in love with her always.  If God is kind I will be with her again.

With much love and aloha, John and Susan Cherry

7'2" Simm-21 for Michael Tully, New Jersey

The Simm-21's are a great board for the east-coast quiver.  The wider-overall template, hull speed and fin set-up can milk the most out of waves on the mediocre days  and they can absolutely RIP in any good surf condition.  This one is getting a light-olive green tint for Michael and the koa and peru walnut fin set in the
Hawaiian Gold post, 2 posts down.     Aloha Michael

New Marketing Ploy?

I have often said, "The only thing that looks better on a slammed Harley than me.......is any chick." I thought this Yellow, 5'10" Simm-21 was one of the prettiest Simms of the 20 or so that I have done. Under Andrea Siedsma's arm.....it just got way better! Andrea is a dedicated surfer and a professional journalist. In this photo it's ready for it's first coat of wax and a maiden voyage (no pun intended). Andrea's 1st session board report; She loves it!
In this photo: Andrea's 5-10 next to a custom 6-6 for Keith Campbell in Georgia.
This was originally made as a "spec board", I just wanted to do a Simm-21 in the shorter range and pass it around to a few test pilots for feed-back. But Danny Partch (Andrea's guy) decided it should be Andrea's. S0 Danny cruised down to The Surfy Surfy shop and snagged it for her.
I'm not sure which one is luckier. Aloha Andrea and Danny Boy,
JC
